If you can't refrain from using Google Maps, you might want to fall back on features that narrow down the exposure of your momentary whereabouts or that of your friends or family.

Consider using OpenStreetMap instead of Google Maps. It doesn't offer all the features you can find in Google Maps but in return it doesn't track your searches and movements.
