If you must purchase goods via the internet, here are some suggestions you could follow:

  • Use only your own computer to access your bank account, and avoid using a public computer.
  • After purchasing goods via the internet, always make sure to delete the browser history.
  • Don’t reply to suspiciously worded emails that might carry the logo of your bank or your credit card company that asks you to verify your financial data. No reliable bank or credit card company would ever send you an email asking you to verify sensitive data via email. Such emails are typically designed to trick you into emailing/entering your sensitive information (also called Phishing), with aims to use the information you provided to gain access into your bank account.
  • If it is offered to you by the online shop, make use of payment options such as payment on receipt of goods or on invoice.
