Flash Cookies, Local Storage and Web Beacons

Tracking your browsing habits is mostly done through Cookies. But there are also other methods to track the websites you browse and the apps you use: Local Shared Objects (LSO), also called Flash Cookies, are pieces of data that are saved on your computer by websites that use Adobe Flash software. Their main purpose is to store user preferences. Web beacons, also called web bugs, pixel tags or tracking pixels, are invisible images as small as 1x1 pixel in size that are embedded in web pages. They are used to track who is reading a website. Local Storage, also called DOM storage, is a mechanism initially meant to allow you to view stored copies of web pages when you are offline, or to load web pages you revisit faster. All of these are known for tracking user behaviour.
